Red jacara cloth - Is this a stupid question?
« on: 22 April 2013, 08:58 »
Hello there,

I have ordered leather for my GTI - I realise many including Auto Express would not agree with this decision.

However the standard Jacara seats are labelled 'cloth' and certainly look that way in many google images.
On the Auto Express review the pictures make it look like there is some leather (or maybe some king of plastic, not cloth) around the sides and back of the seats.

If this is the case then i may go with the majority and remove leather but if it is cloth all the way round then I will keep as is.  Let me know your thoughts, the link to the picture is below.

Ordered a Golf GTI DSG Performance Pack in Pure White with Keyless Entry, Dynaudio, Rear View Camera and Panoramic Roof.

Currently driving a Scirocco 170 GT in Night Blue with Bluetooth, Rear Parking Sensors, DAB and Dynaudio.

Some markets (including here in Ireland) give you the option of half leather / alcantara, with the jackara centres. A bit like the Edition 30 seats, looks great in pics I've seen.
Not a UK option.

I doubt anyone knows for certain, (including VW UK), but my guess as Joe says is that the Cloth / Leather / Alcantera seats shown on the Autoexpress review, are either conceptional only or available for other markets not the UK.

I would expect the cloth seats in the UK to be 100% cloth (as they appear on a number of other reviews). Would be delighted if it does comes with the combination interior though

I too would have liked the half leather seats, not sure if this will become an option soon.

Unfortunately for you Chris it looks like the UK market is destined for either all cloth or all leather seats. Have a look at the pics in the new GTI brochure (pdf) which show in good detail what the tartan cloth seats will look like.

I'm a big fan of the tartan, so can't wait for them myself. However, I think VW UK have missed a trick in not having part leather/alcantara & cloth seats. I'm sure many would have specced them if they were an option.

My order is showing the cloth ordered as 'Titan Black' - is this the same as the tartan?

I think Titan Black refers to the colour of the dashboard and interior trim.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but from memory, I think Titan black is the colour of the black cloth fabric used on the seats (with tartan centre pieces used on bottom and back panels)
