Air in the fuel system
« on: 18 April 2013, 19:45 »
I uprated my inlet manifold fuel rail and fitted a new fuel filter and was just wondering whether air can get trapped and stop fuel from getting to the injectors?

Surely the air would get pulled through when you turn it over till it fires is the pump turning on when you start it?

It will take time to crank its only because all the fuel has gone from the pipes air dosent usually get traped in petrol engines diesels mainly have a problem with cranking with no  fuel in the pipes i fill up the new filter with fresh diesel

if your car is not starting has any of the fuel pipes got jubilee clips on them if they have check the tightness of them as too tight can pinch the fuel supply and starve the engine

Yeah it has in a few places will check them over. Did undo one of them and fuel did start to leak so it would seem fuel is getting there but the engine doesn't even start to fire up. As someone has said if the immobiliser is on doesnt it still start then cut out a few seconds later?

Mine sometimes kicks up the immobilizer and doesn't start others it does start so that not much help but it won't be much help if your cranking it with the  immobillizer cause it will only be pulling the air through for now anyway

Ok nice one, I need to stop worrying, one step at a time and get the key sorted first then go from there I guess
