Mk2/AGU. Mapped through k-line/canbus?
« on: 16 April 2013, 19:17 »
If K-line and canbus wires are connected straight to ECU, can an AGU still be mapped straight through diag port?

Unsure of where else it usually passes before it usually reaches ECU.

Will it still be 'straight forward'?

I believe the answer to that is yes. Asked the same question a while ago and this is the response I got on how to wire it up the diag port (wires come straight from the ECU):

"All you need for basic diagnostics:
4 - brown - earth
7 - grey/white - k-line to ecu
16- red/white - permanent live

Additional can-bus wires to remap the ecu via diagnostics:
1- blk/blu - ign live (not sure if needed?)
5- brn - earth (not sure if needed?)
6 - org/blk - can bus
14- org/brn - can-bus

You can get the live/earth feeds from the ciggy lighter if you want it like factory, also the perm live can be ign live if you like it makes no odds as you cant scan ecu unless ign is on anyway."

I should add - I've not yet done this on mine but when I do I will be following the above.

Mines an AUM but if I remember correctly the diag port wiring is the same on both.

Cheers pal, there's a few I'm missing off that list, both earths, and I have two red/white.

No blue/black for me, but will check on Thursday to see if anything is in pin1.

Cheers pal :afro:

aum is not the same as agu

can't remember all the pins off the top of my head but you need 12v programming voltage to pin 43 to be able to write to the ecu

google m3.8 bench flash cable you'll probably find a wiring diagram, that's what i did when i built my cable!

Literally 4 wires in my diag plug, will have a further google and see what I can find.
