And also for those people like me with iPhones, they don't support Remote Sim Access Profile.

Everyone has an iPhone....right??

How can VW supply a cradle for your phone or is it just the connection to a cradle? Although I think very few phones have cradles nowadays.

I have the Audi Mobile Preparation High in my car and with that comes an integral aerial that the phone automatically connects to via RSAP. It also displays texts on the MMI and allows you to send ready made templates. It turns the car into a wifi hot-spot. It allows the nav to use Google Earth with Google Street-view, connects to the internet to bring the news and weather reports and also give details about you current location. You can also use it to look up destinations via Google.

So if it has some or all of those features then it will certainly be worth it.

Given how many people use iPhones, can't see why they are still pushing the rSap standard.  Any phone that supports it basically becomes useless as soon as it is active as you lose the data connection on the phone.

That means no emails on the move, whatsapp, nothing apart from SMS and phonecalls.  It is pretty pants in my opinion.  I've got it in my Scirocco and used to use it when I had a Nokia phone.  Was constantly switching bluetooth off and on to disconnect it from the car so I could download emails, very annoying actually.

Will have to find out more on the cradle before adding the option, dont want a big halfords style block sticking out from the dash like the sales rep has here at work.. :'(

There is no longer any need for a clumsy mobile phone holder on the dashboard, and there is no critical exposure to radio waves in the interior of the vehicle.

But the standard one does most if not all of that, so whats the benefit of the premium?? :-\

Google says the following:

VW Standard (Its this one which has an optional cradle!)

VW Premium

Audi terminology (which I assume uses the same technology behind the dash)

The external antenna should give much better reception, especially for GSM1800/1900 networks (handsets on these network typically have much LESS transmit power, compared to GSM900).

For those that have not specced leather, is the winter pack a must have? I'm having arguments with myself as to whether I should have ordered it or not. Do you guys think its good value for the money?     :undecided:

Nope, it's not great value, but then few options are!  I want heated seats so you just have to stomach it

£350 for heated seats and heated washer jets (bi xenons already give you the low washer warning) isn't cheap but when its freezing cold and your rear end is like toast you'll be glad you got it. It's also something that's a pain in the rear to try and retro fit!

It seems if you want anything warm in this car you have to pay a silly amount of money for it?! :D
