Winter pack
« on: 15 April 2013, 22:37 »
Can someone confirm this please. Am looking to order the GTD this week after negotiating some good discounts with my usual dealer.

One of the things I'm having problems with is the winter pack (which we've specced on our last 4 VW's). As the wife isn't too keen on the jacara tartan cloth, she has persuaded me to go with leather.

Now as the GTD also come with Xenons with headlight washers and apparently according to the specs, low washer fluid warning, and the leather seat package comes with heated seats, am I right in assuming the only thing Winter pack would give me extra would be the heated washer jet nozzles (hardly a deal breaker) ?

Or would I be missing anything else by not choosing it (I assume the leather does still come with seat heating as standard ?)

Yes, you're right.  Leather seats are heated as standard; xenons include headlight washers and low fluid warning.  The only add-on you would get with the winter pack would be heated washer jets - a lot to pay for just that!

Damn,  I bought the winter pack because I thought it gave a heated front screen - wasted my money then!

Just phone your dealer and take it off - you can change your spec up until the point where the car is being built I think.

As for the heated jets - all sounds very good, but if the Mk7 is anything like the Mk 6, 5 & 4 then in the winter the water gets frozen so makes the heated part redundant as it won't squirt water!!

That has just saved me £260! Hated washer jets, I had assumed the windscreen was heated (like on my old Fiesta ST)  £260 / £1.50 antifreeze spray should last me a few winters!
Ordered a Golf GTI DSG Performance Pack in Pure White with Keyless Entry, Dynaudio, Rear View Camera and Panoramic Roof.

Currently driving a Scirocco 170 GT in Night Blue with Bluetooth, Rear Parking Sensors, DAB and Dynaudio.

You need a stronger screenwash mix then.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

Thanks all. Oh and believe me, if the Winter pack had come with the heated windscreen, I'd have specced it in a heartbeat. However AFAIK, this isn't even an option in the UK is it ?

And yes, the heated washer jets on my old MK5 Golf and current Scirocco have still frozen in the winters despite being heated and running a healthily strong washer fluid mix, so I don't think it's something I'll really miss.
