alignment after polybushing?
« on: 15 April 2013, 21:41 »
I have a trackday at Combe on Monday next.
I was going to polybush the front wishbones and rear axle beforehand to stiffen it up a shade.

I'm thinking now though that I should hold off as I wont be able to get the alignment checked before the day..

what do you think, will removing the back axle put the tracking out?

You cant adjust the tracking on the rear as its a solid beam/axle. Only fronts can be adjusted. Also poly bushing the fronts MAY make a slight difference to the tracking (was told by a lodge tyre worker)

It is always best to get the alignment checked / adjusted after any suspension work or repairs

Wont take long to shred a set of tyres on track if your alignment is out

There is some adjustment at the mountings. People rarely do it but toe can be changed slightly.

Could you explain how you can adjust toe please? I got toe in I would like to loose but can't see how you can.

I can understand castor.

You can adjust the direction the wheels face in comparison to the car on the bolts. The toe in or out of the wheels can be adjusted using those camber/toe shims if required. The toe can affect handling and tyre wear.

This link shows that it can be adjusted. On a mk2 but similar setup.

Another here

It may be the cause of alot of mk3's pulling to one side even after alignment
