EGR Oil Leak Golf MK4 GT TDI 130 ASZ
« on: 15 April 2013, 21:37 »
OK after taking my golf to a garage to diagnose the oil leak, typically it wasnt leaking that day, but he advised it looks like its coming from the EGR valve area.

He advised to keep the engine cover off and keep checking that area for leaks, it didnt leak for a couple of days but today got home from work and noticed there is a small weep from a small hole on the front of the EGR Valve . I have pictures but i dont know how to upload to a post

I rang mechanic and he advised to source a good second hand one off ebay as new one would cost £200 ish.eek!

My question is , is it worth taking the EGR off and giving it a thorough clean with carb cleaner , would that stop the leak or is the valve buggered?

Its only an intermittent leak but i'm sure it will get worse over time. How easy is it to remove? what tools do i need?, it looks relatively simple, is this the case?

Would appreciate any help and sorry if this has been posted before..have attached pic
