Actually, got it all sorted now. I'm not sure why tweed but I couldn't get your method to work. I did use italava's method though and thankfully all is okay now. I was about to have a fit.

I've got the speedo and rev counter sorted now, but the fuel gauge won't play ball. You can only turn it so far left/right?

Yes but push hard and it spins on the shaft.

But you've done it now just a longer way off doing it lol

turning hard with needles fully in will allow quite a bit of force on the motor and the end stops - plus it takes more force to get them to slip on the shaft.
when you pull the shaft out and only loosely insert them you need much less force... plus needles are not tricky to get off if you have 2 tea spoon to lever them off.

I didn't use teaspoons, managed to use the right angle with my fingers to pull them off safely, but nonetheless it was a b!tch of a job to do. Just an annoyingly fiddly!

Thanks for all the help though. Everybody. :)
