I thought the mk7 is supposed to be lighter?

3Dr Man
GTD mk6 = 1329kg GTD mk7 = 1377kg (assuming the figures are for the 3dr)
GTI  mk6 = 1318kg GTI  mk7 = 1351kg (assuming the figures are for the 3dr)

5Dr Man
GTD mk6 = 1359kg GTD mk7 = 1407kg? (should be heavier on the mk7 could it be 30Kg heavier as that's the difference in the mk6)
GTI  mk6 = 1348kg GTI  mk7 = 1381kg? (should be heavier on the mk7 could it be 30Kg heavier as that's the difference in the mk6)

3Dr DSG
GTD mk6 = 1351kg GTD mk7 = 1395kg (assuming the figures are for the 3dr)
GTI  mk6 = 1339kg(1393kg old broc) GTI  mk7 = 1370kg (assuming the figures are for the 3dr)

VW Website for the mk7 and parkers for the mk6 the VW site doesn't spec for the 3 or 5 door mk7 seven so assuming its the 3dr.

Whoops double post. Actually just looked at my mk6 GTD and GTI brochures and they match parkers.

Was always a bit sceptical of the initial claims.  Think this was mentioned in a previous thread that showed there was barely any weight saving at all.  So it's actually heavier!!

There have been changes to the way VW publish vehicle weights fairly recently in that they allow for driver weight amongst other things. Probably a new industry standard thing like the optimistic fuel figures.

According to the old brochures on the vw website a 5dr with DSG is 1414, a manual is 1393.

I wonder the average weight of a Golf GTI/GTD driver? That would make it lighter.

I'm sure I read it in VW Driver mag recently. I think 70 kilos was mentioned. Will have a scan thru when I get chance.
I think fluids and driver are counted from memory.

I'm sure I have read (somewhere in VW literature) that they allow for drivers weight and half a tank of fuel in the new figures.
