R32's are pathetic

had this convo last night with ben, when my engine was standard 225bhp (S3 engine) it absolutly murdered a mk5 R32 and the driver tried about 5 times, i said at the time to ben, his VR6 would have kept up with the R32 EASY

id never ever have a R32 or the engine..  unless it was turbo'd up

I can believe that as yours is better power to weight. Also you loose more bhp through 4wd system than fwd. so r32 would have a bigger loss of power at the wheels.

But seen a few mk5 r32 turbos and oh my.

Your limited to the amount of power you can use on a fwd car.

Mk5 r32 would pull your pants down if you both had 650bhp.

and as for Mk2 and mk3 debate

mk2 aerodynamics are diabolical over 100 mph, the ideal shell is mk3 if you are going for BIG power, the extra bit of weight helps traction and the aerodynamics are good on the mk3

BTW I love MK2's
ive been about 110mph in my mk3 it seemed to drive quite steady as the steering wasnt to figity what top speed have u reached f17 with all that power

the most shocking Iv just read is you saying a standard MK4 handles better than a mk3

Well it does, mk3 GTI from the factory is crap, very underdamped.

Driven a few mk4's plus the Octavia which would run rings around a mk3 both in terms of handling and yet still have some ride comfort.

All the road tests of the time slated the mk3 for handling hence the boat nickname.

Whilst people will say that a mk3 can be improved that is not really the point it is a GTI so should be half decent out of the box.

You have most deffo not driven a mk4 if you think it handles betther than a mk3 GTI..

Under dampened ?  Mk4 was over dampened

Very very NOT gti like drive, alot worse than mk3...

mk3 was worse than mk2..  Mk5 got better again

Not no ordinary GTI....
