Oil temp/pressure sensor fitting problems
« on: 13 April 2013, 19:09 »
Good old fun with the golf again!

I tried fitting them in the spare blanked plug first and it was stuck solid and the allen bit rounded off

So my question is I have this adaptor

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CAR-INTERIOR-OIL-TEMP-PRESSURE-GAUGE-SENDER-ADAPTOR-/300797397692?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4608ec0abc

Could I use where the turbo banjo bolt is and put them all off there?

Will that give false readings or more importantly effect oil flow to the turbo?

Or am I going to have to strip the whole inlet off again and try and remove this plug?

I know why this happened as once I fitted and wired all the gauges in and they worked I thought for one moment, this is going really well!

yes it should fit tbh but i cant see there being a problem using the banjo bolt as the oil it pressurised system anyway.

I have an adapter in the sump bung plug allowing me to fit the temp sender in there. As for oil pressure I was going to use the same sort of T as mentioned but mounting it remotely so there was no stress on the oil pressure sensor

Well they all managed to fit where the standard one went, think it should be ok but will keep an eye on it. Not a bad idea with the remote mounting will do that if I get any problems.

Oil temp is better done through a sump plug adaptor, then do pressure mount to the filter housing.

I tried to do the same on my Octavia but the blanking plug was stuck, might be better to pick up a spare housing.

Yeah I was thinking about getting a spare housing. Im going to leave it for now. I need to do about 800 miles or so then will be changing from the mineral oil, so will get a spare housing and sump plug adaptor for then and swap it all over at the same time.

John I might still have a few bits that I was going to use on mine but never bothered, one bit is a male M10 to 1/8 NPT adapter I had made at work...

Cheers mate but I think I'm going to leave the banjo alone, dont want any problems with oil flow to the turbo. Will do what you said and put the temp in the sump bung and if i find a spare housing cheap will split the pressure sensors up. Will sort it all out next oil change.
