standard shocks won perform correctly with that amount of drop, you may also encounter your driveshafts rubbing on your anitroll bar now and then when the car is heavily ladened and at the end of its suspension travel, uprated antiroll bars are available which have a differnt design so as not to rub, or you can by different drop links to help stop this, id deffo say you want uprated shocks for that kinda drop though sugar

shocks a deffo for that drop, im running -40mm springs on mine with 17" wheels, not as low as id like but no rubbing probs and its on standard vw shockers too, although i think there bout knacked now...

ill see if i can find a link to the modified droplinks, there alot cheaper than antiroll bar upgrade.

if your shocks are in good condition you wont have any trouble, they arent gonna perform as well as a shortened set but theyll do the job. havent had any bother with mine and theyve been on 2 1/2 years and the shocks are just starting to feel a bit bouncy in high speed bends and stuff, im only gonna replace them with standard spec ones as i cant see the point of doing any more mods to mine as it dosnt give me the speed it want anyway to warrant having decent stuff on it, i only did it for looks more than anything i didnt want 'oil rig' status when i shoved me 17's on thats why i did it!! lol

i think my shocks are knackered anyway, my fronts make funny noises over speed bumps and if i go over a pot hole or bump in the road the back makes a "bang" sound... it also feels very unstable at 80mph+ (not that i speed or anything ) lol and rolls quite badly on corners so i thought lets just get new springs and shocks and see if its any better...

get your front antiroll bar bushes checked sugar mine was clonking over bumps and stuff and handling was a bit 'off' had them replaced along with new rear axle bushes as also worn and they sharpened the car up no end!!!

hmm thats interesting, i do think i need new shocks tho as you can here the  front shocks compress over bumps, and make a strange noise which is slowly getting louder, what would i be looking for on a worn arb bush? i mean if i give it a wiggle would it be loose etc???
