traction control
« on: 12 April 2013, 13:33 »
Right so i have noticed my traction control  button does not work. And do not even think the traction does. After trying to make it kick in few times i do not feel it kick in at all.. no power cut off or anything when sliding about in the snow..tried a little roundabout spin to try make  it kik in but nothing.. i can see when its dark the traction symbol is on and extremely dim when i start the car and then after few minutes its not visible like all other warning symbols around it. During the day i cant see it as to much light etc around.

Have vag com it and have no fault codes. Dont realy know where to start?  :undecided:

Abs works.

When i put on ignition the traction control light does not flash for few seconds like other warning symbols. Think bulb is gone but heard there soldered leds :lipsrsealed:

Isn't it 4motion? I'm not sure and could be totally wrong but is it not just throwing power at the rear wheels?

Passat traction control limits throttle and also sometimes uses ABS to work. Have to admit normally I hate it but in the snow it was actually really effective!

Try this on an empty road at a fairly low speed. Swing the steering right to left quite quick almost to throw the back end out.

See if the ABS kicks in and pulls the car straight. Same system, the Passat again does it and it works incredibly well! Really doesn't let it slide and hammers it straight back into line.

Where all my moneys went.

I did swing it about in the snow and traction did noy kick in at all. The 4ws system prob only thing kept me on road.

Just noticed today light does not even show up on ignition so defo led gone or there is a error and someone has covered the light :undecided: error and covered sounds likely

I know it sounds daft, but are you sure you have traction control? I don't know anything about the 4motions, but I know it was an option on the 1.8T. So at some point down the line, a previous owner may have just bought the switch to fill in the blank.
