One thing I'm sure many of you have noticed is that the new wheels on the Mk7 GTI are directional.  In a lot of the videos and pictures I've seen they seem to have the "blade" (for want of a better word) "leading" on one side of the car, and "trailing" on the other.  Even on the official site they show it both ways:

http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/new/golf-gti-vii/home

Am hoping that they end up cutting two different wheels for the left and right sides so they both point in same direction, preferably "leading" for me (although I guess it would be easy enough to swap the wheels over if required).

Minor thing I know, but it helps vent some of the excitement while I await delivery!

They all look the same to me, with the "blade" pointing clockwise whichever side of the car it's on.

I remember back in the mid 80's when XR3i's and RS Turbo's first had wheels with sloping spokes. They were the same.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I get your point,  and I'd much prefer them to look the same in terms of rotation too (I like the drivers side best) ,  but I'm 99% sure that they will not make two separate designs (i.e. one for each side).

My current Audi rotors are a little bit the same,  but there is only one wheel design for all sides

They definately won't cut 2 sets of wheels, the scirocco wheels are the same if you look closely, the turbine design only goes one way so look backwards on one side.

Stupid really!!

Not if the car is going in reverse ;)  Wheels can rotate either way!

It is a bit stupid, especially when it's so noticeable.  Cutting a left and a right is no big shakes in the scheme of things, but I suspect you'll be right.  Honestly, if they made it something like a £200 option to have wheels pointing whichever way you wanted, and symmetrical, I'd pay it!

Hmm.  Now I'm wondering if I shouldn't have picked the 19" wheels.

But, its another grand
Also I wonder what effect the 19" has on type costs anyone know?  I assume the lower profile bumps the cost up a bit.
