Hi all,

I've noticed quite an annoying high pitched noise when turning left in my mk4 Golf gti recently coming form the offside front wheel area. It's not constant but seems to appear when i turn left... It's become louder and louder and so I took it to VW, surprise surprise they couldn't hear it - so I'm taking it back to take a technician out with me.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what this might be to give them something to think about?

Cheers

driveshafts only tend to rub on mk4's when the car has been lowered more than 40mm when the suspension is at the end of whats left of its travel, then the drive shaft would only rub on the antiroll bar, so i doubt its that. hard to determin what would cause this noise, a cv boot can make a 'squeel' noise but i wouldnt have thought youd have heard it in the car sounds like somethings rubbing on your wheel/tyre check the flexi brake pipe on that side isnt rubbing on your wheel when on full lock as i had a recall on mine to have both fronts replaced as there was a prob a few years ago, if its not that id be thinking you have a stone or something behind your backplate of your brake disc?? when wheels bearings get dry they can squeel but normally they 'moan'. check the following and see how you get on.. cant be too hard to find......volkswagen technicians.... they are lazy sods!!!!
