My GTI has gone!

Well where do I begin?

Went to bed about 1am Saturday, then got a call from my neighbour about 8am to say that one of my bay window panes is on the floor. Rushed downstairs to find the car had been stolen off the drive!

They were only interested in the car and nothing else in the house was touched. I had my keys on the side in the kitchen. Now I'm waiting on the insurance company (insured with VW) to sort it all out.

I don't know if they will be able to locate a new mk6 or if they can't will they agree to replace it with a mk7? Just didn't need all the aggravation.

Oh man thieving horrible people you work hard and you get that not good at all, :angry: I know parkway vw have got pre reg mark 6 gti's left anyway hope all goes well buddy  :sick:

I bought mine brand new, so will not accept pre reg car unless they are offering something with really good spec. And that will be the problem, because as I understand it VW told all dealers to register any remaining GTI stock before the mk7 went on sale.

Really sorry to hear this.  Did you have GAP insurance?

Was at a work meeting the other day which the Police attend and they said this type of crime is rapidly increasing.  Same thing happened to my neighbour couple of years ago, broad daylight and they were upstairs in their house at the time - thieves walked in, picked up car keys and drove off in it. 

Hope it all works out ok.

can understand we're your coming from as I understand I think they all have a reasonable spec but probably wouldn't feel the same anyway hope all goes well

Been there myself (as have many forum members here!) And know just how you feel.
Hope the scum are found and you get your car back.... As well as feeling safe in your own home once again!

What's the reg no on the off chance it hasn't been changed, or someone sees it dumped/unloaded from a container?

Shocking - at least you are all OK


Might be worth getting someone to look at your windows - depending on age and from what you describe, they may be externally beaded - means they can unclip the plastic beading and then take the window unit out from outside. They are all internally beaded these days.

Hope you get a good response from your insurance company

Sorry to hear this Elite...

There are some real scumbags out there and this seems to be there preferred game at the min we've had a few threads come up for the same reason and as people have said it seems to be on the rise, I just hope this situation gets sorted satisfactory to your benefit...
