Oh well
It's failed & it's costing around £750 to fix.  Looking around it seems it's a big failure point :-(

Lucky the car was only at tickover, so no other damange done phew!

Turns out it was not the usual oil pump that failed but the larger unit!!.  The cog had come away & was being held on with a spring!!.

When I started the car the spring let go & the cog SPLIT the pump.  Dealer showed me massive crack though it.

Big ends all checked & fine, wow so lucky it didn't happen on the motorway or goodby engine

It was painful to hand over that amount.  But if the pump had gone bang while rolling? what would the cost of a new or recon engine + fitting cost

Yeh loss of pressure down the motorway could have been really costly.

6/7 yrs ago we bought a brand new 1.8T Audi bottom end for £750, (Sons A3) that and the head reconditioned plus labour cost £2K...... Annoyingly, the same lump from Seat was £500 but they wouldn't guarantee it as it wouldn't be 'fit for purpose'!
