New injectors for a KR
« on: 31 March 2013, 14:39 »
Has anyone on here swapped out the standard 16v injectors for the brass Merc Benz 190e ones?
A bit of research has shown that these are a good replacement as the are supposed to be identical
but everything i've found is pointing towards the 8v only.

Are the 16v injectors different?

Cheers.

Yes very different indeedie one has a plastic body usually with a Digi ECU i.e 8V. Other 16ver is made from stainless and brass and is thinner GFS used sell them at about £30 a pop if I remember rightly might be more money!

Make sure you replace all seals from VAG if you plan of swapping them out chances they are finished one smaller seal and a larger insert seal, that's an important one!

Merc ones wont come with the top hats. Just look up your local bosch suppler they should be able to source them for you

I've been lead to believe that the top hats come off after some soaking and then press onto the new injectors.

They do indeed. Alternately you could just get your own ones cleaned n checked. And just buy some new seals

I know mine are leaking when they get hot.
I run the car warm, turn off the ignition and then try to fire it up a few minutes later and it turns over for a while before firing up as the injectors are weeping.

It'll even struggle to start if the ignition is left on for more than 10 minutes.
