Hi guys,

has there been any more good discounts obtained lately on the GTD?

Have been seeing the DriveTheDeal are now giving £3300 of the list price, but would rather deal with a local garage.

Actually, DTD will try to use a gargage local to you as it saves money on delivery. Mine is about 8 miles away from you and they seem to have dealers who will give those discounts all over the country. They use the fleet arm of the dealership.

Do you have a p/x to chop in? You might find that the dealer is robbing Peter to pay Paul in respects of a great discount negated by a poor p/x value.

If you are expecting DTD sized discounts, make sure that at minimum they offer you WBAC.com valuation for your p/x. You can use those 2 values to get a realistic "cost to change" which might look better on paper to your local dealership e.g. WBAC.com value your p/x at £13.5k and you're looking to get £3.3k off the new one then your local dealership might offer you £1500 more for your p/x and £1800 off list for the new one - same end result.

When I ordered mine there were no advertised discounts on the GTD. Waiting 2 or 3 months to see them open up before ordering might've saved me £1100 realistically on the deal I do have with fixed p/x.

Exactly why I negotiated a discount on the car first, made sure they reduced the list price of the car from, £28.8 to £26.5k, then talked about part ex value after..  because for me the part ex is just an underwritten back up plan in case I can’t sell the car privately.  Hoping to offload my BMW tomorrow for £1500 more than the part ex guarantee so that will be just fine with me !

Thanks for the quick replies.

I do have a trade in, but the car is currently on an Audi PCP, so the usual haggling on the base cost of the car.

DTD say they don't do trade in's on there website, so not sure how a dealer through them would accept my current car on PCP though..

DTD won't commit themselves to a part ex but if you have a VAG car I doubt the supplying VW garage won't want it as a p/x - it's just a case of "at what price". If you can get the garage to take it at the WBAC.com accurate quoted price at a minimum (go on their website and get a valuation based on an "honest" * descrition of your car) then you'll have done well in the overall "price to change".

* I say honest because anything less than immaculate is knocked down. My car is immaculate except for a small scuff on one of the alloys and 3 stone chips on the bonnet (fair wear and tearon a 2 year old car in good condition I would say, but their inclusion knocked about £600 off the valuation even though I could've gotten smart repairs amounting to less than £200).

Just test drove a near identical example (everything you list above minus the winter pack) and the bit of column where the key would've gone is scratched to buggery. Lots of people forgetting it is keyless.
