As always, go into your local stealers, configure your car and negotiate and then walk away with their best offer. Speak to 3 or 4 other stealers and play them off one another.
The optimum time to negotiate best deal is at the end of the month as sales guys have monthly targets to meet so you may be able to get a better deal

The 3 dealers with the 3 levels of discount...did they all offer the same part ex? If the 5% discount dealer offered you 10% less for your part ex (worth approx 1/2 of the new car) then you're no better off than no discount dealer offering 10% more on your part ex.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

My dad is also looking to get a GTD after deciding that his MK5 Golf GT170TDI (07 plate) needs an upgrade (copycat!) - he's wanting a Tornado red 3 door with DSG. So I rang the salesman at Pulman back and they're offering him over the odds in part ex value (£5500), free service pack and free back to invoice GAP. As soon as he mentioned GAP he announces that my surprise is out of the bag - he was going to surprise me on collection with the free GAP on mine, so my "discount" is even better than I thought it was.
