iv a golf mk3, if i twist the rotor arm one way should it spring back by its self, does it make any differance if it dont

The arm is on a gear and shouldn't move (not sure just using common sense) if you did move it the engine should be turning with it, and I doubt every much your that strong and that the arm is strong enough.

Yes it makes a difference!! Your ignition timing will be well out. Why did you twist it? What are you trying to do?

On a lot of dizi,s u can move the rotor arm a little and it springs back but mine feels really stiff
( the rotor arm that is lol)

That's because it's pushed (and keyed) onto the distributor shaft, so it stays in the correct position.
