Ok VW Electrical Heads, need to tap into the wealth of wire knowledge & physical locations...

Want to install puddle lights as are in the front driver/passenger doors in the REAR doors and need to tap into a power wire linked to the opening of this door as in what happens in the front doors, i.e puddle light on specific to that door opening, not the whole courtesy interior lighting coming on when a door opens.

An idea from from someone who's gone bit quiet on the actual answer said "the micro switch is in the door lock but you SHOULD be able to tap into the loom on the door plate, give me a few days and i will find the feeds from the rear door that you can latch into"

So, anyone agree/disagree with this AND where the micro-switch maybe located, say near the pillar dividing the front from the back doors on driver & passengers side as will be needoing to go through the door rubber bellows to feed (or maybe a quick tap of the lead IN the door lock micro-switch?)??? :undecided:

Please keep to topic & yes, well aware of overloading the CCM but keeping power low with LED lights

you wont overload the ccm as when do you really have all 4 doors open at once?
right, on the door module connector there will be a brown and white wire which will become your -ve when the door is opened (pin 6 on the connector) this goes to the -ve on your light
as for a power supply, youll be looking for a red and yellow one, but on the electric window connector. think its a thicker wire than the other wires. this will connect to the live of the light
this should complete the circuit when the doors opened! hope that helps
i think i love you.....

Thanks EsSex dAn for the info

I'll prise off the rear door cards & investigate. Hopefully the the door module & window connector should be obvious with those wire colour guides you gave.

BTW, how da 'eck do you know this stuff?! Is it studying Haynes or another guide as would love to know so can find the answers myself without looking like a complete noob

Will post a few pics if all works out!

Will try not to sweat it if everyone piles outta the car & opens the boot as maybe a small wiff of burning coming from the CCM

you wont be abke to miss it, youll see the motor soon as the door card comes off, but to get to the lock module youll need to remove the silvery/grey panel. but wind the window down 1st or remove it totally to make it easier.
im building a mk2 with mk4 electrics so i have a haynes which ive studied n mafe up new looms etc for myself, thats the only reason i know! any probs msg me!
i think i love you.....
