Help, new car puncture. NO locking key in boot!
« on: 25 March 2013, 20:56 »
I have a 2001 AUM and it has the splined locking bolts.  Guess what.... Got a flattie and no key to get bolt out.  Pumped up with my bike pump (good job my wrist is strong haha) got enough in it to limp home.  It's now on the drive with a flat tyre and I am at a loss what to do, it goes flat quick too.

Any help to remove it even if I have to buy something, cheers.

Mine have an internal spline and I don't think a socket will go over it because between the bolt head and wheel it's a very small gap.  Like about 3mm, maybe it will.  Might try it.

The same happened to me. I used a cordless drill (powerful one) and I whacked a socket abit smaller than the locking nut over it and got them all off that way then I went and got a nice set of locking nuts from Hanford I opt for there most expensive ones :)

You can get alloy wheel lock removal tools in all different shapes & sizes, better of investing in one or try the above advice.

if its the normal vw one, itll be a right pain and youll most probably wreck the alloy. best thing is really search the car and ring the prev owner see if they have it. for now put a tin of tyre weld in it. better than a flat!
i think i love you.....
