So dropping the winter pack will make no difference to the washers then.

Looks like you'd just loose the heated (cloth) seats and heated washer jets.

But if you opted for leather seats ... you'd just loose the heated washer jets and nothing else

£370 is a lot to pay for just heaters on the jets and under your bootie. Stuff that. I've had heated leather seats in mine for a year and a half and used them about three times. The heaters that is, I do tend to use the seat more often!!

Still a bit annoyed with the silly radar. Would rather have cruise or better still basic nav (and the price go up a couple of hundred).

Me too

The thing is I use Cruise Control to stick to the 50mph speed limits when they are enforced with SPECS average speed cameras (e.g. through the many motorway roadwork's).  I don't want to go any slower or faster than 50mph  :undecided:  I guess there will be an option to turn this function off.

EDIT : Just seen how it works on this video - it may actually be OK for me - still don't like the big dome in the front grill though   It would appear to work best with DSG IMHO.

I thought headlight washers were required if you have xenons but it doesn't say anywhere that they are fitted? ???

You can take it for granted that Xenons will have washers - they are required for type approval.  The standard equipment states :-

Gas-discharge (Bi-Xenon) dipped and main beam headlights including LED daytime running lights, automatic range adjustment and low washer fluid warning light

and I'm pretty sure the low washer fluid warning is talking about for the headlight washers.

The price list brochure also states the following as standard on the GTI :-

Gas discharge (Bi-xenon) Including automatic range adjustment, headlight washers and low washer fluid warning light and LED daytime running lights

Re the above photo, obviously it shows the dipped and mainbeam lights, but what's the bulb in the middle, is that a cornering light ? If so is it standard on all Golfs with the xenon option ?

One of the Audis that has Xenons doesn't have headlight washers. Apparently if it has some special "nano coating" is doesn't require the washers!!

Interesting video that suggests the mk7 xenons are active like the mk5/6 ones.

I'd say thats the static cornering light, it's normally the fog lights that come on and off so it seems to be a better design imo.

The ADC will keep you at 50mph just like your normal cruise control and then if you catch something up that is going any slower then you will just follow the car in front at the speed they are doing. If that person pulls out of the way then you will speed back up to the maximum/set speed you had originally pressed set at. The nice thing now is the cruise goes up and down by 5mph increments instead of 1mph at a time. It will also touch the brakes to keep you at 50mph for example if you set the cruise control and go down a bit of a hill where normal cruise control would exceed 50mph then the ADC will keep you at desired set speed by applying the brakes. It also includes a speed limiter which you set at x speed and no matter how hard you press the accelerator it wont go any faster......

VW0401-13

We can now confirm that pricing and specification for GTI and GTD are as in the below price list and that Automatic Distance Control (ADC) is standard on both cars.

We delayed the open for order date by a day to make sure we published the correct prices and specifications. Customer orders will be built from week 22.

Only market entry and function cars will be built before the week 22 (27 May) model year 14 change; these will be built without ADC but with cruise control instead.

I don't think we can believe the VW UK spec, even when they have posted this.

All the review cars we are reading about now have ADC on them, and one review even states ADC is the reason the new GTi has a lower insurance group.

Why then would the first UK cars not have this also, would they cost more to insure?

They are (I'm reading between the lines) the dealer demo cars that won't have ADC possibly. Some of the early GT mk7s had slightly different specs to those published too so take a long hard breath before collecting your new car!!
I doubt the lack ADC will make a difference if you bought an ex-demo mk7 GTI as far as insurance goes as it'd be a logistical headache for the insurance companies to keep up with it. However caveat emptor here!!
