mk2 8v problems
« on: 22 March 2013, 14:10 »
my car is a 90spec 8v digi and has started to cut out when driving!! can be at any speed!
when it cuts out I can't restart it but if you leave it for a couple of mins it starts again

its been doing this on and off for the last week or so however its getting worse and more frequent.
any ideas what this could be, I'm guessing fuel? possible filter? fuel pump(it does make a noise when ignition on).

Have you tried resetting the ecu?

Would suggest new blue temp sender, plugs, rotar arm, test HT leads etc...

When it cuts out, pull king lead off dizzy and hold 1mm from annearth. Turn ignition to pos two and back (to energise te coil) does it spark? If it does ten its hall sender failing when warm

My similar experience was due to failing fuel pumps. I replaced both in the end. I noticed the car only cut out when the fuel level was low as the pump's had to work harder. I changed the in tank pump first, but problem persisted to the main pump was done too
