Remove Secondary Air 'thingy'

I see that Forge make a blanking plug to remove this system.  I have a 1.8T AUM with this fitted and its making a racket, so I plan to drill and bolt it as in the repair guide.  Then I started thinking.... I am taking it off to repair it.  Can I use the Forge blanking plug and just not bother to put it back on.  SO my question is... Is it ok to remove this and are there any side effects or problems?

put a resistor in the plug that you take off it so it fools it into thinking its still there so no fault codes pop up.

also you will need to blank where the pipe comes off the airbox 

edit: unless you got a cat still then i think its best to keep it in

Aha, still have the cat.  Will be visiting an exhaust fabricator next week so they can have a look and quote for a system.  Will leave it alone and ask em.

i think ive posted on nearly all of these secondary air threads and this no exception cause i have another question lol, what if i plan to go with a sports cat in the future is it worth me fixing mine rather than deleting??

Well, I will be repairing mine at the weekend.  Even though I may book the stainless system next week, I will have the option either way.  You have to remove it whatever, so might as well repair it.

If you are planning a sports cat or a decat then remove the SAI, it only warms the cat from cold, leave it running an extra 30 seconds before you move from cold.....
It is a pointless piece of kit if you have an uprated exhaust system

Even if you have a CAT, sports or not surely you could just remove it and just let the car warm up naturally? I mean do any other cars have a SAI on the engine just to warm a CAT or am I missing something? Also when you repair it because of the noise is the cause due to how it's built? :/ ie rivets to hold it together or is it something internal because all I have seen is people swapping the rivets for bolts? I'm planning on removing mine as its starting to get noisey now but I have a CAT on?
