MK3 Central Locking issues (another one)

For apparently no other reason than old age, my 97 MK3 central locking fights against me when I am attempting to unlock. Literally when I turn the key on the pin goes up, the car fights against me and fires the pin back down. There is no sound of the pumping running

If I use the passengers side the all works normally including unlocking the drivers door. I have check the pump and there are no leeks.

The paddle behind the handle is fine, so I have now disconnected the air feed and electrics for the lock and returned to old school locking/unlocking on the drivers side.

Anyone had anything similar? Unsure if its the actual lock insides thats knackered or an electrics fault.

Any advice would be helpful as I would like to have the central locking fully working again.

I find i only get this problem when below 0 degrees . Anything above this kind of temperature its fine.

Interesting point as it only started playing up in the colder weather around November.

it most likely has water ingress which when cold may have damaged things. i squirted some wd40 in my lock and it works better now. also put some oil on the key and this has helped.
this is common. even after losing world war2, the germans still don't know how to produce technology that works in the cold. funny, aint it?

Starting to look like it. Noticed the electric connectors on the lower part of the locking unit were green with copper fur. Have tried cleaning them but they are a bugger to get at.
