Salt causing grooving on brake discs
« on: 17 March 2013, 11:41 »
Just had my car serviced in Aberdeen.  Got an amber advisory note that there is grooving on the inside of my front brake discs, allegedly caused by the salt spread on the roads during the winter months.

My concern is that these discs are less than two years old and would have hoped that they were better manufactured in order to withstand a little bit of salt.

Has anyone else had this problem/issue...?

Will this affect the integrity of the braking system...?  Are there any safety concerns...?  Will this cause an MOT failure...?

How long do you think a set of discs should last given average yearly mileage, average braking force...?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
