Cult Films...
« on: 16 March 2013, 22:44 »
I'm a bit of a Film buff, and do enjoy a good "Road Movie"
"Badlands" is on tonight, BBC 2 at 12.20 and well worth a watch, 1973, and starring Martin Sheene, and Sissy Spacek. Its a great starting point for this genre of Cinema
Enjoy

Listen to your parents and teachers. They got a line on most things, so don't treat em like enemies. There's always an outside chance you can learn something. Try to keep an open mind. Try to understand the viewpoints of others. Consider the minority opinion. But try to get along with the majority of opinion once it's accepted. Of course Holly and I have had fun, even if it has been rushed. And uh, so far a good sign, hadn't got caught. Excuse the grammar.

Two of my favourite 'cult' films have to be '2 lane blacktop' and 'paris texas'. I love how quite, slow and haunting these style of films are. Big open spaces, little dialogue and no real story line - lovely. I would also like to use this to highlight another film you should all watch, 'brokeback mountain', the cinematography is absolutely spectacular!  Before you write a response to this could you please think 'Am i going to look like a homophobic or is this a genuine critique of the film'.

Can anyone else recomend me any big, open, nothing films.

For empty try Michael Mann films - LA Takedown and then Heat (which is a bigger budget remake effectively).

For weirdness check out Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly

Then Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas

Donnie Darko is good, but rather too clever for its own good.

Then pretty much anything with a Terry Gilliam directing credit.

Oh and Bullitt and probably lots of other stuff on the shelf in my living room that my wife didn't buy.
Just because you're offended doesn't make you right.

I find many cult films a disappointment to be honest, like Fear and Loathing - amusing at first but bored as fook by half way through. Pulp Fiction, that one about the guy with the bolt gun. Yawn.
