mk4 drivers side door puddle light/lock issue

Got really annoying issue. My car locks unlocks all ok interior lights work and dim in very short time though ill add.

Problem is

1.i have no red warning on display panel the one where it shows a car with a door open surley mine should have this?

2nd issue maybe related to 1. My drivers door puddle light doesnt work. The interior lights dont work when drivers door is opened neither does the above red indicator. The door also self locks the car as the car doesnt think door open.

Checked bulb and swapped puddle lights but no different.

Sounds like drivers door module to me.

Possibly bad solder joins at the door module as above. It's a bit of a mare you have to take everything out from the door but its simple enough.

Have a search mate, there are a few guides kicking about on the various forums.

It's also worth noting that the micro-switches can also fail. Mine broke so I re-soldered it, but it didn't solve it

Ok peeps but can anyone comfirm does or should my car have a light with a car picture eith a door open on it?

mine doesnt, only a car symbol with the boot open

Open your passengers door and see if a car picture comes on the dash,if it does then it will be the same with the drivers door. That's assuming your passenger door module is working.

No light with passenger door open just interior lights come on etc. Cant believe the car wouldnt have summit basic like that
