gt-tdi with some issues (minor i hope)
« on: 16 March 2013, 14:20 »
hi guys i am new to oil burners and mk4 golfs in general and would like a bit of advise on a few issues i have if you would be so kind.I have a 1999 gt tdi 110 5 door in green.

1st fault. My nsf door has a fault with opening, the button on the door wont come all the way up and i have to pull the exterior handle twice to open the door as it sticks on the latch with the 1st pull.the car will beep when i unlock her but not when locking and its the same with the repeaters too.Ive done some searching on here and rekon its the module but cant seem to find any for sale any where, does anybody know where to get one from(except the stealers) and if it would need codded to the car once fitted or if its plug and play.

2nd fault. My gear change feels sloppy at best and seems hard to go into 1st and 5th gear, the guy i bought the car from had a receipt for a refurbed gearbox from early 2012 so im hoping its not that but the linkage instaed.has anybody came across this before.

Is there anything i should do to her maintanence wise,is there a to checklist of some sort on here.

Lastly id like to ring a bit more grunt out her,wot should be the 1st things to do.Im not looking to go mental just a few wee nice mods for some more power.

Cheers guys :):)

Sounds like the nsf door locking unit is knackered.

Gearbox could be the nut on top of the linkage is loose or the splines are worn on it.

When was it last serviced? Cambelt?

Get it remapped.

:)

Cheers hoggy, the car is due a service in june and the belt was done 2011. Is it worth sticking a cone filter or a performance panel filter on her as i will be getting my own service items for my work (seat dealer) to service her so i can get the stamp in the book.

With the remapping is there other mods i should do 1st to get better results from the map.

Cheers :):)

I run a simota induction kit on mine..mainly for the sound

A lot just run a k&n/pipercross panel filter but thats up to you :)

To be honest a decent remap will get you to where you want it..

I reccomend a Decat and EGR delete though :)
