Mr clutch quote
« on: 15 March 2013, 14:39 »
My clutch needs changing in my 8v. I was going to have a go myself, the clutch from GSF is £90, but just had a quote from mr clutch and they said £197 inc vat. Now that seems a really good price, but what are they like, had anyone used them before?

Don't bother with them,  if you dodnt do it yourself then pay a bit extra and get it done properly

I had Mr Crutch do the clutch on my last 8v mk3 about 4 years ago as i didn't have the time to do it myself and their quote was considerably cheaper than anyone else i asked so thought sod it.
Boy what a mistake,  sh!t components and incompetent monkey tw@ts playing with spanners. I had to return with it 3 times and even had to supply my own release bearing and clutch cable because they couldn't get the correct ones!
Even after forcing them to replace the clutch plate again due to it slipping occasionally it was still never quite right -  AVOID!

I think I'm going to do it myself, I've got some time spare next week. I've been looking posts on here, and I'm going to change the release bearing, but is it worth replacing the pushrod as well? If so where can you get them from?

I'm suprised at that, used LUK clutches before and had no issues with them.

Luk are usually quite reputable tbh.
