Sell it or break it?
« on: 14 March 2013, 12:24 »
I have the opportunity to buy a 1994 MK3 5 door GTI 2.0 8v.

About the car from what I know so far......

142k
4 previous owners
MOT till June

The guy who has it is a VW mechanic and has done the following with receipts.....

Kent Cam
Polished and ported head
Uprated head gasket
Full stainless steel manifold and exhaust
BMC airfilter (Think that is what it is called, he has the reciept for £220)
JOM Coilovers
288mm grooved racing discs
Full roll cage, proper one not a cheap look a like thing!
Nearly new uprated engine racing mounts
New alloy rad.....Rad is lovely and much bigger than standard yet just fits in!
VR6 cloth seats, back ones not in but will be with the car.....Also lots more but this is what I have found out so far. He has a mass of receipts for all pats used.

Took the car out earlier......It is very very fast for an 8v!  Runs very well. Body work is good. Interior, well there are only the 2 front seats in at present.

I am wanting the Audi Peppers and the rear lights and front strut brace. Rear lights will then be the smoked ones of my car and the alloys will be Raddo VR6 reps.

Now.....Here is the question!!  I am buying this car for £675.....Shall I take the bits off I want and replace and then sell the car with my bits added or will I make more money breaking it?

I have just three pictures as my battery ran out on my phone and dam Photobucket is not sizing them properly. I can ask Shady to re-post the pics if people want them bigger as I am sure he will do this for me

I say thats too expensive to break and make money

also due to the mods it won't be an easy seller (the mods won't add any value)

or you can try and proove me wrong!!

Two things wrong with that car Paul

1. Its an 8v
2.Its a 5 door

If It had been a 16v 3 door I would say have it, but as it is leave well alone.

I agree.  However a polished and ported head if done properly is a very expensive mod

Good if you have children or job that requires it. 3 doors just look smarter in my opinon

With that roll cage its set up as a track car so 3 door is better as its lighter!
