Oil flush

Hi all does anybody know roughly what a garage will charge for a oil flush basically 2 weeks ago I found a small amount of mayo on the filler cap and a tiny amount on the dip stick been told by a engineer at work it's condinsation and he recommended a flush

oil change with flush will cost you an oil change plus the flush stuff (that will be added to warm engine -oil- and then engine kept running at !IDLE! for 15')....

however don't see this is necessary - if you only drive short distances in cold weather it won't take weeks for it to come back....


BUT:
not convinced oil change or flush will cure the issue with your car... even on mine i haven't seen mayo on the dipstick EVER.... How much gunk was on the stick?? If it was a considerable amount I would get a garage to do a CO indicator test on your coolant and a pressure test.

I only do short journeys to and from work roughly 50 miles a week , on the dip stick its a tiny amount prob the size of your finger nail if not less it's just a blob just above the maximum mark on the stick

probably down to short distances then...
take it for a long spin during the weekend, drive warm gently (15 miles) then give it the beans for a while, then a bit more gently so it can cool down a bit and that should get rid of that.

an hour's drive should be enough in total... i always just go and visit some relatives in cumbria (200mi one way) that does it for mine

At the end of the month I'm off to mums in London for the weekend it's 208 miles door to door just wanted to be on the safe side

I would avoid engine flush tbh, can cause more problems in the long run.

You can empty out 1l of engine oil and stick 1l of ATF in there and run it for a few hours around town at a moderate speed. It'll clean out any oil sludge and thin out the oil ready for the flush.

But the mayo in the cap and dipstick will be down to short distances. Remember engine oil operates at 90-100 degrees, and you need to run it at this temperature for a while to burn off any condensation in the oil, otherwise it'll create the mayo. Just take the car for a good blast down the motorway with the revs quite high (Italian tune up  ) and that should clear it up nicely.

I personally wouldn't bother after some was put in mine during a service and the engine has made a ticking noise since and its never gone away

I would not pour ATF in the engine and even less drive with it in there.... Why in gods name would you do that??
