Why not ask your dealer if you can borrow a dsg car for a day to try and see if  if your happy with it, after all your spending a lot of money on a mk7

+1 Always better to bend theirs first!

I reverse out of a garage every day and there is no problem selecting first while still rolling back.
There is a slight delay, as first is on the same clutch as reverse, but not that much.

To be fair the DSG isn't the quickest auto I've been in for changing from Drive to Reverse and vice versa.

You can change between the two when it's still rolling slightly, but it reacts even slower if you do. If you come to a stop first, or flick into Neutral just as you do, then put into gear when you've stopped moving you'll be away again quicker

I do it everyday in mine, when it was new and I was late I 'd flick from Reverse to Drive just before it'd stopped rolling back and thought a few times I'd left it in Neutral it was that slow!

I don't find it a problem at all, I reverse out of my drive and no issues.

Whether I'd get DSG again? NEVER!

It's a love hate thing for me. Driving it around town and work it's very good, very smooth.  But where I hate it a lot is when you want to pull away in 5th or 4th but want it a little quicker than normal BANG into second and all hell breaks lose.

It certainly is faster that way for overtaking, no second guessing the best gear to be in but I dont want the constant gear changes when i put the foot down slightly.

When in manual mode it's almost perfect but it will overide manual if you put your foot right down all the way to 'kick-down'

Don't get me wrong, DSG is a clever piece of kit but I won't be getting it for sure, I lose too much driving pleasure from having it.

Shame you haven't mastered it because when you do I think it enhances the driving pleasure.
