From what I've heard from my boss, (Tester) it's actually a grey area. There isn't anything coming into the m.o.t for failing diesels without a Cat, but there is for petrols. So as I see it, some will fail you, some won't. You just have to go to the right guy ;)

Equally how is the tester to know what car is fitted with what. Take a DPF for example; not all cars are fitted with one even if they are the same car, built in the same year with the same engine etc etc

THIS . yet another fcuk up by vosa that will no doubt be added to the " pending " items due in the next changes to the test.

I would be more concerned about the changes to the rear brake imbalance and future limits   :lipsrsealed:

It tells you on the m.o.t printout sheet what the vehicle is fitted with or without and what vsi limits apply :)

As for the brake limits, fill the boot with bricks ;)

Can someone explain why bricks would help? Brake IMBALANCE?  :undecided:

I can help here ;) It's not for imbalance, its to get a higher brake reading if thy lock up too early, the heavier it is, the less likely it is to lock up :)

thus missing the point totally.

only the fronts have a % imbalance allowance at the moment.

however, they are bringing it in for the rears too.

Load away, if you have an imbalance it wont help at all
