Mk4 wing mirrors on mk3, how?!

As the title says, I'm wanting the mk4 wing mirrors on my mk3 but the base plates are completely different. Anyone done this already or has anyone got any ideas how to do it? Cheers guys!

I'm sure the golf 3.5 wing mirrors are same as the mk4, but these will fit on a mk3 with no probs.

As above bud, you need mirrors off a mk3.5 / mk4 cabrio, 98 on basically !

Not a direct swap, there's a raised lip on the base plates that needs to be flattened off
