SS Scorpion Exhaust
« on: 09 March 2013, 16:41 »
Hi Folks,

I have a 1998 low mileage (55k) golf GTI 8V, which has just failed its MOT, few minor things but the main reason is it is fitted with a Scorpion CAT-back exhaust system and the the centre section as I am been told has split ( still not sure where, will know more on Monday).

I bought the car 5 years ago with this exhaust system on and as far as I am aware it comes with a lifetime guarantee, the problem is I don't have a receipt for the exhaust from the previous owner to go back to the manufacturer.

Anyone had a similar situation or any advice please?

guarantee only applies to the original owner... my advise is to check what the problem is and take it from there, it may be something easy to fix?

Correct there but you can always make up something like your girlfriend got it and your now split up ect like I did with my miltek and they just sent out a new system no more questions asked and powerflex warranted some bushes i sent back that came on the car ,

Try your luck ? Look up a dealer or find them on the web send off an email

I've got a scorpion system on mine and it split on the mid box where it exits towards the rear box which i'm told can happen as the rear box is a tight fit and so puts pressure on the mid box, i got mine welded by a ss exhaust specialist and its been fine since, scorpion wouldn't touch it.

Thanks  - I thought that would be the case.

Gavv8 - I've got a hunch that's what has happened to mine, will see on Monday and hopefully it can be welded.
