Dat Oil Leak
« on: 08 March 2013, 20:44 »
Got a decent oil leak, been losing some lately and I do need to top up occasionally. Can smell burning oil if I drive the car hard, and at night, with my lights on I can see faint wispy smoke coming from under the bonnet near the lights.

Today I had a look under the car and the turbo, wastegate actuator and EVERYTHING ELSE anywhere near it is covered in fresh oil.

Any ideas what could be leaking guys?

Thanks :)
I thought Volkswagens were supposed to be reliable?

I thought that, but the turbo runs well and isn't noisy. I don't know enough about the turbo to find the oil feed. Where is it located? What does it look like?

The oil feed pipe should be the top one that goes the the bearing housing (middle bit)

Had it in for an MOT yesterday which it passed somehow. I didn't question it, I just accepted it  The garage reckon it's the rocker cover gasket. Quite likely now that I think of it, I'll let them do the job as I simply haven't got the time to do it these days.
