I bought the Skoda exhaust tips but having some problem fitting them. They are the ones you described but are quite tight to fit. How have you guys gone about fitting them?

I used a little drop of oil around the spring fixes inside the tips and then they slid on no problem but they are snug!

Guys I'm fairly new to the forum  and have just come across this thread. I am in the same boat, have bought some Yeti tips for my 1.4TSI. In the instructions it says 2 man job to fit, I think one man holding exhaust while other knocks on the tips. How did you guys actually fit yours, as they are very tight and I don't want to damage the exhaust system.  Cheers Mick

Hey Mick
Don't mean to sound rude in anyway but please read Simons & Steve's posts below carefully and they will tell you how to go about fitting these tips...

The spring clips inside need to be tight, otherwise they would rattle and fall off.

Tap them with a block of wood and a hammer, just make sure you have them the right way up so that the slash cut at the end of the pipe and trim line up when it is fully pushed on.

As dubber has said, get a piece of wood and maybe put a towel between that and the exhaust trims and then tap them on.
Just make sure your original exhaust pipes are clean and they will tap on no problem.
Don't cut the original exhaust pipes like they suggest.

Mine were still like new when polished after nearly 3 years of use.

Great addition to the GT

No offence taken Mr GTD.
I just want a bit more detail, i.e 2 man job? One supporting exhaust whilst other knocks the pipes on? Did they get nocked on far enough so that the standard tailpipes fit right up against the rim of the chrome ones? They are a very tight fit and I don't want to get carried away and damage the exhaust system.

If the exhaust is clean it should slide on up to a point and then it is just gentle tapping to slide them home.
I was concerned about hitting them with a hammer but to be honest it is such a gentle tap you won't cause any problems. I'm sure I just lay a towel draped over them so I could support the exhaust and tap away and not cause any damage.

I wasn't happy with mine at first and was able to still rotate them by hand to align them up with the original exhaust.

As M3SHAM has said, why don't you try a little oil or WD40. The WD40 will soon evaporate so its not as if the tips will slide back off

Thanks for the reply. Have you managed to get your trims to fit right up against the end of the exhaust tail pipes,
or can you still see any of the clips?  I don't want to keep hammering mine on, if they don't go to the end.
