Mk3 ABF Starter.....
« on: 05 March 2013, 19:18 »
Hi guys,

I'm in need of a new starter, but which do i buy? I can't afford 'Genuine' so was looking at these:

http://www.gsfcarparts.com/901vg0491

http://www.wilcodirect.co.uk/volkswagen-golf-2-PETROL-1995/product/starter-motors/QH-8016300

I've seen them slightly cheaper aswell, but for an Auto rather than manual? Is there any difference?

Also, 8v ones appear cheaper, and have read a couple of time that they will turn it over fine? Looking at them though one has 9 teeth and the other 10? And generally ABF ones are 1.1kw and 8v are 0.9kw?Is there much difference, and would either work?

Just looking at the cheapest option really, MOT is looming and it's going to need monies spending on it for that!

Cheered bud, I did look at that one too, but swaying towards gsf/wilko as if there's a problem i can sort it out easily rather tHan sending one back and waiting fir a replacement. Plus they're not far from work...

Why don't you just strip it down and refurb it, that's all I do.

Where all my moneys went.

Golf MK3 1.6. Golf MK3 8v GTI.
