Dodgy electrics

I have the joy of trying to sort out a "project" car, an R reg MK3 Golf Cabrio.

This fantastic gem of a motor enjoys at least one inop electric window, an instrument cluster with Alzheimers (doesn't remember time, etc., after ignition's turned off). Its windscreen wipers don't turn off, nor does the radiator fan. It also won't start via the key - you have to use a bit of wire on the solenoid direct to the battery.

It also appears to have left a little puddle of power steering fluid on the floor - I won't mention the worn interior and the manual roof that is supposed to have been electric...

Anyway, the one thing that has scratching my head at the moment is the starting/wipers/fan problem. Has anyone come across this one before? Thought I would ask before I dive in and lose my sanity with it.

Think that's your ignition switch , when mine failed it wouldn't start the car , everything worked then when it Inalt started after wiggling the key the wipers were in responsive , interior heater blower didn't work , no indicators ect

Someone may disagree but sounds to me like you need a new ignition switch

sounds like an ignition switch, plus some broken door wiring - which door window is it?
You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.
