Dubless - a sad day.
« on: 03 March 2013, 16:22 »
Today is a very sad day.

After a couple of years of ownership, I have reluctantly sold my 8v gti. I guess times move on and I really felt that I needed something newer for the daily grind - putting 12,000 miles a year on the car just seemed like the wrong thing to be doing.

One of the things that I have enjoyed the most over the last couple of years is sharing the enthusiasm with people I have never met, who often come up to me at the fuel pumps and share their nostalgia for these brilliant cars - they certainly don't make them like they used to!!!

It's incredible just how much affection these cars are held in. I have owned other performance cars, including a Porsche 911, none which have got anywhere near the the same kind of positive reaction. This is the definitive peoples' car - no doubt!

Watching it being driven away was pretty tough - and I have only had the car two years.  What must it be like for you guys!

Thanks for all the help that forum members have offered up over the last couple of years - it has been invaluable. This site is a priceless source of the kind of technical and, sometimes, moral support that we all need.
