Graphic Designers. need your input!
« on: 01 March 2013, 12:10 »
What would you charge and how long do you think it would it take you, to redraw images like these to make them look slicker and more professional? All other installers use images taken from their suppliers websites. I don't want to do this.

I've had a quote to have them done as part of a package including a top end website design, and the cost to do the graphics seems a bit steep!

Drawings would literally take 5 mins by any half decent draughtsman.

Cost not a clue, but then I'm an engineer not an GD.

These diagrams are going on my website. Don't think a draughtsman would be much help here

When you say slicker, you don't mean outlined drawings at all?

If not then it does take some time but depends on how much they are charging per hour. I usually charge £20 ph myself. 10% discount for Golf GTI members.

i dont really understand what you mean by "slicker" but to me those drawings/pictures look alright, it is glaringly obvious to me what every part is meant to be but then i am a joiner to trade so see this kind of thing the whole time.
what type of people are you expecting to view the website?
are they likely to understand this picture better or a technical drawing?

Those drawings would have to be designed to go with the theme of the website, it would probably be a few hours work just for those and then a top end website would cost a lot again.
There are cheaper companies that just have a few website templates that they use and then just customise them with your logos and information. But the better companies are ones that design from scratch.

If you're paying a proper professional design company, not just a bedroom designer, the prices will be high, especially if they have an office/studio to pay for and employees.

Have you shopped around for quotes?
Here's a designer friend of mine based in Yorkshire, try contacting him for a quote.
