project 1989 mk2 golf gti 16v - slooooowwww

Hi all

recently came across a 1989 mk2 gti 16v, with 190k, it was suppose to be a daily but decided against it.

im now looking at  restoring it, unfortunately im not as skilled in restoring as most of you guys so some basics things i will be able to do myself but majority of it would be sent out and done professionally.

I plan to have a 1.8t conversion done, im looking into buying a donar car, but not sure if it will work out cheaper or more expensive if im not able to salvage everything from it.

body looks in ok condition and from what i could see it may not need too much welding, im not sure if i should fix all that before doing the conversion or maybe do after the conversion when a lil more money becomes available.

heres a few pics, ive taken then trim off to see if any rust around body etc..
