Somewhere on a Corsa newsgroup.....
« on: 27 July 2005, 18:39 »
Will be a young Chav telling all the other Kevins how he burnt off a new Golf Gti.

In my defence I was following along a nice twisty backroad I use regularly and I backed off when I realised just how hard he was trying and how I was going to feel guilty when he flew off the road sideways.

Bet it made his day, but I do apologise to all of you for darkening the good name of the Mk5 Gti.

I fear I may be letting the side down too.

Although I have a legitimate excuse...................

My Mk V GTI is only 2 days old.

Perhaps I need to put a big sign in the window?  "Running In"

You did the right thing letting him go, I've read many threads about chavs in Corsas etc trying to outrun Evo's, Imprezas etc and then rolling it in the process.

Next thing you know youre implicated for taking part in a race. Happened last year to guy last year in a Porsche last year in the North of England, better off letting them go.

Back in the early 80s I had a sign in the back window of my heavily modded Mini 1275GT  "RUNNING-IN ...BURN YOUR ASS LATER"

I let a guy get away from me once when I had my Mk2 - he had a Cav GSI 2000 thing with 3 people in it and I was eating him alive! I backed off cos I knew there was a nasty looking corner coming up, he went on without lifting and crashed pretty bad!
The OSR wheel hit the kerb, the car spun twice, smacking the kerb a few more times - front and rear bumper came off roof was concertina'd but they all got out of it.
I stopped when I saw it happen in front of me - one of the guys came up to my car and asked me for a lift! I said ok, he got in, I saw he had a massive bag-o-pills in his inside pocket of his jacket so I told him to get out!!
Moral of the story - chav drug dealers can't drive. Oh, and avoid Cav GSI 2000s if you can!
