first thing check for broken wires in the rubber elbow. bet at least one is broken, which can have funny side effects...

passenger side, probably the paddle of death is broken.... just ebay golf mk3 lock repair kit (take handle out and check if you got 'a' or 'b' variant
boot does not have a micro switch i think, so all you could unlock from there is the boot.... if that does not work take trim off and have a look at the lock itself. (that won't harm for the others as well - they never mind a good clean and bit of grease)

Sorry for hijacking,Just a quick question
When I unlock with the key everything fine but when I lock nothing happens.
I took off the door cards and operated the switches manually so current goes to the green wire but none goes to the grey wire they were the same for both doors so I checked the pump manually and fed current to the green wire pump works fed current to the grey wire nothing...
Does this mean I need a new pump and if so does anyone have one who would ship to Malta Europe?

Ok something weird has just confirmed its not the pump.
When I take out the x contact relief relay the central locking works flawlessly,I would just leave the relay out but the wipers need that relay to work, any ideas?

Found the problem there was a positive connected directly to the relief relay which I previously did when I installed the electric windows and I don`t know why  :undecided:

Just to double check, anyone know how the central locking works on a four door because I forgot,
When i am in the car, I lock and unlock from the drivers side and all is well, but when i do this to the passengers side and rear doors nothing happens...
Is this how they are?

Its probably the paddle which has gone on the passenger side. I had the same problem with the drivers door not opening but all would work fine from passenger side .so all i did was change handles over and now the drivers side works until i wait for the new paddle to arrive.
