Massive and huge security flaw in google play

It seems every time someone buys an app on google play it sends the user's details to the developer

Not much difference to buying anything else online, is it?  except they don't get your full address - unlike buying other stuff online. How many items have you bought on ebay / Amazon / other sites from random strangers? How many apps have you purchased in comparison to those ? Not a lot is my guess.

I don't think it's about whether one is better than the other (iOS vs android) and I don't really care about that. Both platforms have their pros and cons.

I think the point is that the information being forwarded to the app developer has not been approved by the end user and that google are asking media outlets to play down the data breach without giving any justification why it's doing what it's doing.

In terms of buying stuff off amazon that is slightly different scenario where physical goods need to be delivered and the end user is aware that their information is needed to use this service. Buying an app digitally is totally different.

I just thought android users deserved to be informed of this action by google. That's all. It wasn't meant to be read as google bad apple good type of post and I am tired of such rants

No ranting here, just pointing out that it's not a major problem and it's been blown out of proportion.
They don't get your full address, only the suburb / town you live in, for TAX reasons in America you need this info. As Google is an American company they do things their way and forget the rest of the world don't work in the same way but still apply the same rules across the board, a lot of large American based international businesses do this. Google's system works different to Apple's who probably work differently to Microsoft to Amazons to ebay etc etc etc etc......


iOS users should know about these flaws in iOS too so posted in here instead of a new thread, a conversation about the recent discovery of the flaws found in iOS 6 would be great - but I'm guessing that'll be perceived as being anti-apple?
