I'd say I'm pretty impressed with them.  Diesels have come a long way and with the power and torque that they generate these days it kind of hard to think of a good reason to get petrol over diesel.
......now officially dubless.

Yeah i've even heard stories where people have put there turbo gti's in for servicing and been given a tdi as a courtesy car and ended up trading them in and buying a TDi!

Revs properly,
Doesn't smell like farm machinery.

The Bug's as quiet as you like inside , does sound like a taxi when you first start it up tho.

But just as quick as most petrol models

You're preaching to the converted mate - I ran a PD150 for 22 months/62k miles

I loved it apart from the noise and it running out of puff too soon (I like to REV!!!)

my old mans just bought a PD130, drove to theres in me 8 valve, took him for a drive in his TD then drove home in me 8 valve, TD was a wicked drive, loads a torque, ragged it a bit, scared me dad, he was still impressed to get nearly 50mpg at 'the way you were driving'

Didn't make me grin like the 8 valve though!

Obviously not as chucklable as a gti torque is great tho and the bug handles better than a golf cos of that huge dashboard your sat more in the middle so the weight is spread better ( just thought i'd throw that in)
