Should have a free weekend to give it a whirl.

If you're crop, shoulda got 35mm.

I'm crop, 1.5 i think, so my 55mm is roughly 83mm. Doesn't bother me though!

Whilst the focal length effects the magnification, if also effects the perspective.  35mm on a crop will give you a 'natural' perspective.  50 mm on a full fat will give you a natural perspective.

Also google vertigo effect as this is the same thing but for movies.

You could always put the camera in DX mode

Spend X on a full frame camera and use it in DX mode =O

Alternatively spend X on FX and then Y on new glass as you didn't have the foresight to buy FX from the start
